To invoke the presence of Sri Ramakrishna in the temple, meticulous worship, prayer and vesper services are held daily in the temple. On Ekadashi days, Ramanama Sankirtanam and Bhajans are also performed. In order to satisfy people’s thirst for spiritual knowledge, religious discourses are held in the Ashrama on every Saturday and Sunday. Spiritual discourses are also held in different places of Guwahati where devotees and admirers assemble to gain knowledge of spiritual life. Apart from these regular activities, special celebrations through prayer and vesper services and discourses are performed on the occasion of the birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and other direct disciples of Sri Ramakrishna. Mahasamadhi Tithi of Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankar Deva and Birth Tithi of other divine incarnations are also observed along with Bhakta-Sanmelan, Public Meeting, and Cultural Function etc. befitting to the occasion.
The major festivals of the Ashrama are “Durga Puja”, “Lakshmi Puja”, “Kali Puja”, “Saraswati Puja” and Guru Purnima etc. In order to impart Spiritual Initiation (Mantra Diksha) the Vice-Presidents of our order visit this Ashrama 1-2 times as and when required. This year Most Rev. Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj visited our Ashrama and initiated aspirants into Holy Mantra Diksha.
This out-patient unit provides free treatment to all classes of needy patients irrespective of caste; color and creed. About 35 Doctors in various branches are engaged in this humanitarian activity. We have been providing health care facilities to the patients in the department of Dental, Eye, E.N.T, Orthopedic, Medicine, Gynecology, Pediatrics, Cardiology, Physiotherapy, Homoeopathy, Radiology and Pathology etc. Medicines are also supplied to needy patients free of cost.

Our Mobile Medical Unit has been rendering free medical services to all classes of patients in general and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes patients in particular, in 42 interior villages of Kamrup and Morigaon Districts. We supply free medicines to all patients. In addition to this, Medical Camps are also being held occasionally.

We organize Medical Awareness Camps, Special Skin Disease Camps and Ambubachi Mela Medical Camp at Kamakhya Dham every year. Besides, we organise general Medical Camps in interior places as well as in our Charitable Dispensary wherein we treat more than a thousand of patients free of cost.
During the period 2017-18, at our Ambubachi Mela Medical Camp at Kamakhya 4355 patients were treated free of cost.
Our Students’ Home accommodates 32 tribal students. Boarding, lodging and all other requirements including medical treatment are provided free to them. They are also taken out for excursion 1 to 2 times in a year. The students are trained to develop their personality through a careful blend of academic, intellectual, extracurricular and spiritual activities.
We have a Library-cum-Reading Room which is visited regularly by readers (gents, Ladies and children) from all walks of life. There are 11,712 books in the library which includes Religious books, Philosophical books, Novels and Magazines (Weekly, Fortnightly, Monthly, and Quarterly) of different tastes. These books are issued to readers with nominal membership fees. A total of 799 books were issued to the members during the year 2017-18. About 9,157 readers visited the library and the average number of monthly visitor was 763 during the year 2017-18.
We are publishing a quarterly Assamese Journal in the name and style “Vivek Bhaskar” since 2014. Within 3 years of its journey, at present the circulation is about 4000 copies. This unit also translates and publishes books in Assamese. The most versatile publication has been “The Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna” translated into Assamese. This year we re-printed “Swami Vivekanandar Jivani Aru Vani” and “Bhagini Nivedita”in Assamese.

We maintain a well-furnished sales counter where books on Sri Ramakrishna, Sarada Devi, Vivekananda and Vedanta Literatures in Bengali, English, Assamese and Hindi are available. Articles like photos, CDs, DVD, Dhoop-Sticks, and Lockets etc. are also available here.
True to the tradition of worshipping God in human beings this Ashrama like previous years distributed various useful and necessary articles among the poor and needy people. Moreover, financial assistance was provided to the poor and needy people.
As a part of self help programme, sewing machines and tantsals were provided to the poor and trained girls and women of rural areas. Scholarships are provided to the poor and meritorious students in order to encourage them in their studies. In the wake of severe flood-situation in many areas of Assam, this Ashrama conducted extensive primary relief work as well as medical camp among the victims in different remote places.

As a part of winter relief blankets were distributed among the poor and needy people of remote tribal areas as per the list given below. A medical camp was also held along with this winter relief camp. The details statistics of the camp is as follows:
On 13th September 2017, a free medical camp was organized at Bordiya village under Mayang block of Morigaon district, with active cooperation of Jagiroad Ramakrishna Sevashrama where 303 patients were treated and medicines were distributed free of cost.
Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa, the TCS funded project is run by this Ashrama. Underprivileged and poor students of backward classes of adjacent localities are provided with free nutritious food and health care facilities. Free coaching, books and other study materials and dresses etc. are provided free to them. Music, cultural education and yoga etc. are imparted to them for the all round development of their character. Around 100 students from class I to class VII are given nutritious food and drinks after regular coaching. Compulsory medical checkup once in a month and treatment & medication in case of any ailments are provided free to them.
We are observing the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sister Nivedita through various Programmes: - Lecture Programme, Essay Writing and Drawing Competition etc. National Youth Day, the Birthday of Swami Vivekananda is being observed every year with various competitions and cultural programmes.
Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Guwahati is engaged in serving the society in the various spheres of health, education, disaster management, cultural activities, spirituality etc. according to the need of the people and demand of the situations.
This year, we are organising a year-long celebration of 125th Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s epoch-making speeches at the World’s Parliament of Religions, Chicago in the year 1893, which established the lost glory and supremacy of our motherland in the world scenario.
To mark the beginning of the celebrations, a Cultural Procession in the morning and a Public Meeting at the Ashrama Auditorium in the afternoon was arranged on the 11th September, 2018. This was the opening day of the World’s Parliament of Religions on which Swamiji delivered his first historic speech.
Both the events were a grand success with the spontaneous participation of the students, devotees, well-wishers, admirers of Swamiji and others. In the Public Meeting, Hon’ble Governor of Assam, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi was present as the Chief Guest, along with Prof. Amalendu Chakraborty, Dean of Arts, Gauhati University and Sri Diganta Biswa Sarma, Devotee of Ramakrishna-Viveknanda-Aurobondo & Translator as the distinguished speakers.
